Job Description
- Req#: 409511
- Perform competency needs assessment of HIM staff and determine gaps or areas of improvement.
- Perform high level administrative support to the department including, but not limited to, overseeing the assembling and processing of patient charts, analyzing for deficiencies, birth & death registrations, patient census data and legal release of information
- Monitor the accuracy of the storage and retrieval system and electronic health record to validate established processes are followed
- Provide exemplary customer service to providers and other hospital staff when necessary to resolve issues, answer questions and assist with problem solving
- Cross-train to provide back-up support for other functions within the HIM, Admissions and Patient Accounts departments
- When providing back up support, process billing for services, resolve delinquent accounts, prepare payment plans, monitor adherence to plans, and direct account to outside collection agencies when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of health information storage and retrieval systems
- Knowledge of release of information requirements
- Above average customer service skills
- Above average administrative skills ie. computer use and other office equipment

- Work is conducted in a standard office environment but may enter a typical clinical environment which could include exposure to latex, biohazrd or other harmful substances
