      About the Position: This is a Health Technician (Chiropractic) position located at Fort Drum, New York.

      This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

      Duties


      • With direction from the chiropractor, provide treatments/procedures to include ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, cold, hydrotherapy, and other procedures in patient treatment as appropriate.
      • Document treatments in the patient record.
      • Ensure adequate supply of hot packs, ice packs, towels, ultrasound gel, proper levels of water in the hydro-collator, table paper, brochures, and other supplies in the treatment rooms and supply room.
      • Assist with clinic administrative activities when assigned by the chiropractor.
      • Request medical records, x-rays, and test results from appropriate clinics and hospital departments.
      • Monitor the waiting areas for possible changes of patient condition and initiates appropriate measures in emergencies.

      Requirements


      • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
      • All employees assigned to a military treatment facility (MTF) are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations
      • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
      • This position requires the Basic Life Support Certification within 30 days of employment.
      • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
      • Position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
      • TDY (Temporary Duty) is required at least 5% of the time.
      • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
      • This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
      • Provides services to adult patients whose conditions can vary widely from those requiring close observation.

      Qualifications

      In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.       Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes obtaining patient vital signs, scheduling patient appointments, and assisting the physician with chiropractic treatments or procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

      Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, Chiropractic Technology or Chiropractic Technician. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

      OR

      Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
