      Job summary

      This is an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our team in our new purpose built Critical Care. This post Is to work in a very acute setting, where you will be involved in delivering care to both Critically unwell patients and ward level care patients. We have a large multi professional team which work closely in Critical Care which provides a seven-day service 24 hours a day. This is staffed with shifts including long days, Nights and weekends, which we offer to staff currently on a self rostering system, with some restrictions.

      Critical care can be a very fast paced acute environment, which demands exceptional teamwork. The team work very closely and effective to provide a safe caring and respectful environment for all. We offer excellent learning and development opportunities for staff who join our team, with a strong support network within the team.

      We are a forward thinking modern Foundation Trust and are looking to recruit a HCA who is pro active, highly motivated, open to change and demonstrates excellent communication skills. As an integral member of the team, the post holder will work together to ensure safe effective care is maintained. with Progression opportunities within the unit.

      Main duties of the job

      We are a 16 bedded unit that provides a mixture of multiple levels of care to our patients. We have a fantastic multi professional team of staff, who support and welcome new members of the team. There would be a period of teaching and training for the successful candidate by our practice development team and experienced HCA's in post on the unit.

      Within your role you will assist with hygiene care, stocking up, cleaning and setting up bed areas for admissions. You will assist with mobilising patients, you will also be involved in supporting the team with rehabilitation of patients. Excellent communication is key within the role, as you will work closely within the team.

      You will assist and support the team in the delivery of the highest standard of patient care of care in this busy Critical Care environment, help maintain a clean and well-prepared department, working within the multidisciplinary team to ensure best patient/carer experience. You will be expected to rotate between days and nights.

      -To assist patients nutritional needs as directed by a registered nurse or dietitian
