- new patient health checks and NHS health checks,
- restocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines,
- clearing and restocking of consultation rooms,
- preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coil insertion/removals and contraceptive implant insertion/removals,
- providing valuable health promotion and education for patients, their families, and carers.
- supporting the team to ensure that regular equipment checks/water temperatures are undertaken.
- Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
- Experience of working within a GP practice.
- Experience of wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy and the administration of vaccines would be desirable (but is not essential).

Job summary
The Writtle Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join our close-knit, friendly team on a part-time basis, for 2 - 3 days per week. This role is offered on a one-year fixed term contract, to cover maternity leave.

Reporting to the lead nurse you will be working with a team of 3 practice nurses in a supportive and caring environment and will be able to apply clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas.
This role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills, and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Writtle Surgery is a 3 partner semi-rural dispensing practice of approximately 8000 patients. We have 3 salaried GPs, and a fully staffed team including practice nurses, dispensers, secretaries and administrators, clinical pharmacists and receptionists.
