An exciting opportunity has arisen within CYPED(Children and young persons emergency department) at The James Cook University Hospital to employ a Health Care Assistant. The role within CYPED is to support the nursing team in providing direct patient care to children and young people. The role also involves some administrative work.
We care for children from birth until 18 years requiring Emergency care. We care for children from numerous specialities and a family centred approach to care is essential.
Main duties of the job
We are a team committed to delivering and maintaining high quality patient care and are looking to attract a Health Care Assistant who shares our goal. In return we will support ongoing professional development and provide regular training opportunities.
Experience in health care is preferred, with experience working with children and young people desirable. Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills, be enthusiastic, well motivated and share a commitment to team working.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
