      Job summary

      This is a role as a Healthcare Assistant at Ballington House, a 13-bedded Mental Health rehabilitation hospital that provides services for women with complex Mental Health needs. The job involves working with an experienced multi-disciplinary team to provide care and support to patients along their recovery pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.

      Main duties of the job

      As a Healthcare Assistant, you will join an inclusive and supportive team that works together to provide care to people with a range of Mental Health conditions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include talking and interacting with service users, supporting, encouraging, and motivating them with all aspects of their recovery and treatment goals, such as daily living tasks, community involvement, and carrying out duties allocated by the multi-disciplinary team. You will also be responsible for updating patient records, responding to incidents, supporting mealtimes, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.

      What you will be doing:

      You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with a range of Mental Health conditions, using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recovery pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.

      Your day to day will include talking and interacting with service users, supporting, encouraging, and motivating them with all aspects of their recovery and treatment goals, such as daily living tasks, community involvement etc, carrying out duties allocated by the MDT, updating patient records, responding to incidents, supporting mealtimes, ensuring a clean and safe environment.

      It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.

      The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends. 37.5 hours per week.

      You will be working at Ballington House, a 13 bedded Mental Health rehabilitation hospital that provides services for women with complex Mental Health needs.

      The environment at Ballington House offers a pathway from admission to discharge which incorporates three phases; the assessment phase (accepting help), the rehabilitation phase (believing, trying and learning) and the community phase-out (self-reliance).

      The patients journey generally begins on the ground floor and as they move through each phase of their pathway they proceed to the first floor and then the two bedroomed apartment on the first floor.

      You will work alongside an experienced multi-disciplinary team consisting of a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologist and assistants, an occupational therapist and assistants, nurses, and support workers.
