Job summary
At Independent Health Group (IHG) we pride ourselves on the quality of care we offer our patients. All the work we undertake is for the NHS. Due to an increase in services in the Leicester area an exciting opportunity has arisen for an hourly paid Healthcare Assistant to join the team. You will be working in theatres, supporting hernia clinics around Leicestershire, and also support the Carpal tunnel service in Syston. We are therefore looking for a team member with a background and experience in theatre, outpatients or recovery.
This is an hourly paid role, with hours worked between Monday and Friday, so there is no evening working, and nor do we operate on bank holidays. You will be based mainly at The County Practice of Syston Health Centre, and Castle Medical Group in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
Main duties of the job
As a Heathcare Assistant (HCA) you will support the patient through their procedure, providing a high standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team. The HCA will attend to the peri-operative needs of the patients, under the direct management of a Registered Practitioner.
You will help maintain an environment that is conducive to the delivery of a high standard of individualised, holistic and safe patient care, and to the establishment of good communications between staff, patients and other visitors.
For more information or a discussion about this role please contact Barry Hambridge: barry.hambridge1@nhs.net. If you would prefer to send a CV to us directly, please sent your CV and a covering letter to inhg.hr@nhs.net. We regret that we are unable to sponsor working visa's at this time therefore applicants must have a right to work in the UK.
About us
IHG were set up in 2004 by Dr Matthew Wordsworth with the aim of offering patients the choice of being treated out of hospital, closer to home. Matt wanted to create a new health care organisation in which like-minded health care professionals could deliver truly patient centred care. Our aim was to be a leading provider of community-based diagnostic and treatment services of the highest quality, where patients always come first.
In the summer of 2022 we have proven this, with our Outstanding CQC rating!
We work in a different kind of environment to that of an acute hospital setting. Our patients see the same clinician and are offered specific appointment times. Our staff work within small teams with plenty of time for patient contact. We provide services Monday to Friday, so there is no evening working, and nor do we operate on bank holidays. We pride ourselves on being a flexible employer. If your working hours need to be juggled round for you to achieve a good work-life balance, we will try to meet your needs.
We offer our staff an innovative, alternative way to delivering health care, have a very patient-centred approach with short waiting times for our patients, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a fantastic organisation, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a surgical setting.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
