      MEDICAL DAY CASE UNIT

      HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT BAND 2

      37.5 HRS PER WEEK

      An opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to work in the Medical Day Case Unit.

      The Medical Day Case Unit is a fast paced unit delivering a range of various evasive procedures and infusional therapies to their patients.

      We are looking for an individual who is interested in delivering the highest standard of patient care; experience in this field is not essential however you should be passionate about the quality of care you deliver. You should have a willingness to learn new knowledge and skills as directed by the Unit Manager.

      We require enthusiastic individuals who can work flexibly within the team over 7 days. Hours of work are from 8.00 am to 8.30 pm.

      Main duties of the job

      As a Healthcare Assistant you will provide care to patients under the direct supervision of registered staff. You will have good interpersonal skillsand have the ability to work in a busy environment caring for patients within the Medical Day Case Unit.

      If you do not have previous care experience you will be required to undertake the core skills program within 3-6 months of appointment.

      You will assist with serving meals, including reporting on patient's intake and recording on charts as appropriate.

      You will assist with toileting, escorting patients to and from the lavatory and recording outputs where necessary.

      You will assist with monitoring patients conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight

      You will assist with patients mobilisation, ensuring safe environment and using appropriate techniques.

      You will prepare trolley's and chairs in readiness for patient arrival and help to ensure the unit/department is kept clean, tidy and safe.

      You will communicate with patients and their relatives with care and compassion.

      You will help to ensure that patients are kept comfortable and receive personalised care.

      You will be involved in patient booking in/admission, introducing patients to Unit/department area as directed by registered nurse.

      You will assist with the recording and safe keeping of patients property and valuables.

      You will assist the multi professional team to prepare and support patients undergoing treatment and/or investigation maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.

      You will safeguard vulnerable adults.

      You will report to the nurse in charge of the unit/department matters of concern relating to patients and the unit/department environment.

      You may be requested to undertake duties outside your working area to assist within the Trust.

      You will ensure the privacy and dignity of patients is met at all times.

      You will be adaptable and flexible to working in various areas of the unit/department as required.
