- To help in the delivery of basic patient care under direct supervision of a trained nurse.
- To develop specific skills as requested by your Team Leader and carry them out as per agreed Trust policies and standards.
- To strip, clean and make up beds as per Unit policy after discharge of a patient.
- To re-stock equipment, disposables/consumables in preparation ofadmission in bed areas.
- To be aware of Lifting and Handling procedures.
- To report all accidents and untoward incidents to the Nurse in charge.
- To respect and maintain the rights, dignity and confidentiality of patients.
- To take reasonable steps to ensure the safekeeping of patients property inaccordance with Hospital policy.
- To develop effective channels of communication with all disciplines, patients andrelatives.
- To provide support torelatives and family of a patient with empathy during their distressing time.

You will not be required to undertake an apprenticeship if you have previously completed a relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or similar qualification.
Main duties of the job
The role is to provide support to the trained nurses in caring for their patients. A large part of the role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness to ensure infection control standards are met.
