      Job summary

      We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring individual, with or without experience, who would enjoy the challenge of working as a Healthcare Assistant in a Critical Care environment.

      This role provides a special opportunity to be part of a tight-knit team of healthcare professionals and have the privilege of sharing unique life experiences every day.

      Successful applicants will have a range of training and developmental opportunities which will be available in-house.

      This vacancy is linked to a Level 2 Apprenticeship. This will support you to gain relevant knowledge, skills and experience that will help you achieve your potential in this role. Working alongside the Trust's experienced staff you will be supported to gain the apprenticeship qualification and functional skills in maths and English if required. This is a great opportunity to gain a national recognised qualification while you are working and earning, which will support you in both this role and in your future career at Frimley Health.

      You will not be required to undertake an apprenticeship if you have previously completed a relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or similar qualification.

      Main duties of the job

      The role is to provide support to the trained nurses in caring for their patients. A large part of the role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness to ensure infection control standards are met.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      This post is designed to provide support to the trained nurse in the delivery of patient careand in the effective and efficient preparation of bed areas and equipment.

      The job does involve a shift work pattern which includes nights and weekends.

      For full details please refer to the attached Job Description but some main duties of this job are:

      • To help in the delivery of basic patient care under direct supervision of a trained nurse.
      • To develop specific skills as requested by your Team Leader and carry them out as per agreed Trust policies and standards.
      • To strip, clean and make up beds as per Unit policy after discharge of a patient.
      • To re-stock equipment, disposables/consumables in preparation ofadmission in bed areas.
      • To be aware of Lifting and Handling procedures.
      • To report all accidents and untoward incidents to the Nurse in charge.
      • To respect and maintain the rights, dignity and confidentiality of patients.
      • To take reasonable steps to ensure the safekeeping of patients property inaccordance with Hospital policy.
      • To develop effective channels of communication with all disciplines, patients andrelatives.
      • To provide support torelatives and family of a patient with empathy during their distressing time.
      • To undertake other duties as directed by the trained nurse, such as the delivery and collecting of items from stores or pharmacy.
