      Job summary

      KEY TASKS

      Promote new patient health checks, annual health check

      Understanding normal parameters and when to refer to GPs/Nursing team for further management

      Working under the direct supervision of a Senior Practice Nurse

      Work strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols

      Assist practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care.

      Surgical Assistant for Vasectomy/Carpal Tunnel operations at multiple sites around Stafford, Stoke and Tamworth, own transport is essential.

      • Assist in Coil and implant clinics if required

      Main duties of the job

      Duties and responsibilities:

      New patient health checks

      ECG recording

      Phlebotomy

      Spirometry

      Chaperoning duties

      Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

      Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment

      Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

      Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

      Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

      Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

      Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

      Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

      Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

      Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

      • Undertake audits or data collection when required

      We are a rural practices situated in beautiful villages with picturesque views. Our main surgery site is situated next to a field with horses and and herd of sheep. The practice provides excellent levels of patient care. We have GPs, ANPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, HCAs, Nurse Prescribers and a Musculoskeletal Practitioner. The reception team are led by a Clinical Admin Manager. We have an excellent management team structure that includes a Practice Manager, an Operations Manager, Senior Nurse, Management Assistant, Admin Support Manager, Clinical Support Manager - so you will be well supported..

      Helping patients and supporting the team in delivering healthcare is an extremely satisfying and rewarding opportunity.

      • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalant

      Desirable

      • Phlebotomy accredited
      • Immunisation and Vaccination accredited

      Experience

      Essential

      • Experience of working directly in a healthcare assistant role, adult health and social care, learning support or public health/health improvement (including unpaid work)
      • Experience working within a GP Practice

      Desirable

      • Demonstrates an understanding of Clinical Governance skill
