      • Position Hours: part time / full time - flexible hours
      • WORK SHIFT: AFTERNOON/EVENING
      • UP TO 15 PAID HOLIDAYS, UP TO 12 PAID VACATION DAYS TO START

      General Fitness Exam – October 18

      The General Fitness Exam will consist of an on-line multiple choice examination assessing fundamental knowledge for the position.

      Structured Oral Interview – Date TBD
      The Structured Oral Interview will be before a panel and contain questions that assess technical knowledge, experience, and one's general fitness for successful performance in the position.

      A total score will be computed using weighted scores on all testing components. Applicants must receive a passing score on each examination to be placed on the six (6) months long eligibility list. The top 3 ranks (scores) on the eligibility list are eligible for the hiring interview for each vacancy in this classification within the life of the list.

      Inspect, repair, maintain and service all types of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and related equipment.
      Install, replace and/or repair defective valves, fans, motors, gaskets, filters, belts, fuses, controls, thermostats, switches, gauges, tubing and pipes.
      Inspect, disassemble, repair and maintain hot water and forced air heating and ventilation equipment and plenums.
      Maintain chemical treatment and make repairs to boilers and other related equipment; flush boilers, descale tubing, cut and thread pipes.
      Adjust and install valves, thermostats, fans, pressure regulators and pumps.
      Test systems by pressure tests; tests joints and insulate pipe of refrigeration or air conditioning systems; test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
      Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
      Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
      Discuss heating-cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.
      Recommend modifications that will improve system energy and performance characteristics.
      Research the pricing, availability and compatibility of HVAC parts and equipment; estimate and requisition parts, supplies and equipment needed to complete assigned projects.
      Provide work direction to tradesman performing unskilled and/or semi-skilled maintenance work.
      Assists in other maintenance areas by performing unskilled and semi-skilled duties.
      OTHER DUTIES:
      Perform other related job duties as assigned.
      Education/Experience
      OPTION I: A minimum of three (3) years of skilled/semi-skilled experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and related equipment. Experience with computer systems, software, and consultation, including Johnson Control M5 Control software and Steafa control systems is desirable.
      OPTION II: A minimum of two (2) years of experience performing increasingly responsible duties in a maintenance trade classification at Conejo Valley USD, serving in a lead capacity providing work direction/coordination to staff performing maintenance and operations related duties.
      *Alternate variations of education/experience that would likely yield the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered as acceptable in meeting minimum entrance requirements to qualify for participation in the examination process.

      Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements
      • Valid California Class C Driver’s License
      • Environmental Protection Act Certification, Section 608, shall be obtained within the 6-months probationary period.
      Knowledge of:
      • Design, construction, and functions of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems, including instrumentation, control systems and process of HVAC systems including HVAC Pro, DX, VAV, UNT Controllers, Split/Phase Control Valves, VFD, and HVAC balancing for Damper, VAV and VVT duct air control
      • Fundamentals of boiler systems, including chiller two and four pipe central plant systems
      • Electrical and air conditioning systems, circuitry, terms, and materials.
      • Practices, processes, and materials used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning construction.
      • Methods, material, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
      • Laws, ordinances, and regulations regarding heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
      • Applicable safety codes and standards.
      • EMCS system operation and controls
      • Microsoft Office applications applicable to basic data reporting

      Ability to:

      • Interpret and work from building plans, wiring diagrams, blueprints of mechanical and electrical structures, and manufacturer specifications.
      • Compute air and water balance formulas.
      • Use tools, materials, and equipment involved with air conditioning and heating.
      • Use voltmeter, ohmmeter and other test instruments effectively.
      • Maintain work records.
      • Follow oral and written instructions.
      • Read and apply electrical and electronic blueprints and schematics for design and installation of systems.
      • Take accurate measurements and make estimates of supplies and materials.
      • Carryout skilled maintenance work independently and work cooperatively as a team member
      • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
