  We are currently looking for a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic who will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance, and overseeing repairs of Caterpillar equipment, based at Suncor Site working a 14x14 continuous shift rotation.

  Job Description:

  Major Job Functions

  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs
  • Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Provide detailed daily service reports
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
  • Various related duties as required

  Specific Skills & Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
  • Strong field troubleshooting skills on the Caterpillar mining product line required
  • Minimum 1 year field technician experience
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
  • Dedication to safety
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
  • Completion or be in the process of completing Finning S-level courses would also be considered an asset
  • Team player

  Note:

  • This position will work a 14 x 14 shift, rotating days and nights, and will provide support to Suncor Base Mine.
  • The successful applicant will be based out of D07, however, occasionally will be required to help out at the sister D43 Fort Hills facility.
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
