- Operates a variety of equipment including, but not limited to: edger, weed eater, shovel, hand-held sprayers, chainsaw, leaf blower, demolition saws, pneumatic hammers, mowers, bushhogs, and tractors.
- Operates a variety of standard heavy equipment including, but not limited to: vehicles, aerial and boom slope mowers, articulating bucket lifts, clam and bucket trucks, trencher, dump trucks, articulated loader, rubber tire tractor/loader, trailer, bulldozer, backhoe loader, mini-excavators, off-highway truck, and skid steer loader.
- Performs pre-trip and daily inspections to assigned equipment or vehicle; checks brakes, lights, belts, hoses, fluid levels, air pressure, etc., reports equipment or vehicle service, maintenance, or repair needs to immediate supervisor. Records inspections and routine service log.
- Performs maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment in good clean working condition including, but not limited to: greasing, maintaining fluid levels, changing blades, tires, oil, filters, hoses, and nozzles; ensures necessary repairs are made.
- Assists in the routine maintenance and repair of City grounds, properties, systems, and equipment.
- Loads and hauls gravel, debris, and other materials onto dump trucks to and from job sites and storage areas.
- Performs job site safety procedures to ensure and maintain a safe work space at all times.
- Assists crew leaders with maintaining accurate inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
- Assists with maintenance of safety equipment (i.e., atmospheric gas detector calibrations, maintenance/repair of fall arrest equipment, maintenance/repair of forced ventilation blowers.)
- Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment, fuels as needed; assists in cleaning vehicles and other equipment.
- Assists with loading, unloading, and moving equipment in and around job sites and storage areas.
- Performs job site safety procedures to set up and maintain safe work space at all times.
- May oversee area of responsibility with limited supervision.
- Performs flagging duties associated with work zone traffic control.
- Performs related job duties as assigned.
- Aerates grass.
- Mows rough with tractor mower.
- Uses bucket tractors.
- Drives dump truck with sand and gravel.
- Uses tractor mount blower on fairways, tees, and rough.
- Uses skid?steer in parks and golf course with attachments.
- Uses all mowers, including but not limited to; zero turns, tractor mowers, slope mowers for golf course and parks grounds.
- Uses mini ex or backhoe for digging irrigation leaks, stumps, playground equipment, etc.
- Uses mini excavators, skid steers, backhoes, rubber tire loaders, doziers, loaders, farm tractors, and boom slope mowers for maintenance and construction of the stormwater system.
- Cleans storm drains and catch basins.
- Weed eats ditches and retention ponds.
- Installs and repairs drain pipes.
- Repairs and replaces damaged storm drain lines and surrounding areas including removal and replacement of fences, landscaping, etc.,
- Pours and finishes concrete.
- Clears blockages in stormwater conveyances
- May temporarily function as job supervisor as warranted
- Performs flagging duties associated with work zone traffic control
The individual in this position will use and maintain a variety of equipment for the heavy-duty nature of the jobs that will be performed for construction and maintenance activities associated with City properties, streets, right of ways, storm water systems, and/or landscape and concrete operations.
