Essential Requirements: Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities; Maintains a sanitary and safe environment, including work materials and food items, for the purpose of ensuring a safe and sanitary area, complying with required health and legal standards of operation; Handles payments for food items from students and staff, including reconciliation of accounts, (e.g. cash, meal tickets, etc.) for the purpose of securing funds for reimbursement of costs; Inspects food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders, ensuring adequate stock, monitoring inventories and/or complying with mandated health standards; Prepares documentation (e.g. daily meal sales) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information related to program use and to comply with federal and state guidelines for reporting meal usage; Prepares food and beverage items (including estimates) for the purpose of providing an effective food and nutrition services program/meals for students and staff in accordance with established health/nutrition guidelines and in compliance with state and federal regulations and laws; Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing Food and Nutrition Services program information; Serves food items (e.g. school breakfast, school lunch, special event catering) for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 2% sitting, 48% walking and 50% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, some hazardous conditions, and in a clean atmosphere. Education and Experience: High School graduate or equivalent; Prior related work experience desired; Certificates: Washington Food and Beverage Service Workers’ Permit required; American School Food Service Association certificate preferred. Clearances: Washington State Patrol and FBI Fingerprint Background Clearance. Other Requirements: Completed online application (with supporting documents).
