- Coordinates, facilitates and executes work defined under the HIA grant workplan with primary partners across four counties: Mid-Cumberland Regional Office (TDH), EMS/Fire, Police Departments, Medical Examiner’s Office, Hospitals, Drug Coalitions and other state and local State, law enforcement agencies.
- In partnership with the Mid-Cumberland Regional Office (TDH) convenes and facilitates multi-sector partnership meetings across all four counties; recruits members, develops protocols, facilitates meetings, and maintains meeting records.
- Utilizes knowledge of addiction treatment protocols and drug overdose responses to inform and support implementation of grant activities, including supporting efforts to link individuals to treatment, development of hospital discharge protocols for those with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and overdose follow-up activities with first responders.
- In coordination with HIA Epidemiologist, develops and implements “Opioids Overdose Acute Response Plan” for each of the four HIA counties.
- Initiates and maintains relationships with other drug overdose prevention and response programs where appropriate.
- Provides monthly reports of grant activities and progress to Opioid Overdose Response Program Director and primary community partners as appropriate; monitors and maintains documentation of grant activities and progress.
- Prepares and submits required grant reports
- Master’s Degree in Public Health.
- Experience in organizing, managing, and mobilizing community partners / coalitions to achieve results.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and use data from multiple sectors that impact overdose response.
- One (1) year of experience working with those living with Substance Use Disorder and/or working operationally with emergency/public safety response to drug overdose activity
The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) has been awarded a three-year grant under the TDH High Intensity Area (HIA) overdose response. The HIA covers four counties, Montgomery, Cheatham, Davidson and Rutherford counties. The grant allows MPHD to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to identify, provide linkage activities and support those impacted by the opioid epidemic. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in both Public Health and Public Safety and must possess the ability to help develop an innovative cross-sector response to the overdose crisis.
This position will work Onsite and in the Community as directed.

One (1) year of graduate study in public health administration, public administration, or health education may be substituted for one (1) year of experience
or
A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of public health administration, public administration, public health sanitation, or business
administration, of which at least one (1) year within the past three (3) years must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
