The Seagate Derry / Londonderry Manufacturing site has been open for 30 years this year. We have over 1200 people working in our facility which is among the most advanced in the world, in the design, development, and volume manufacturing of recording heads. These recording heads write information onto and read information from the recording disc, within the data storage device.

Reporting to the Equipment Technician Manager, this challenging 2 year programme gives the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and you will be required to train with and support the existing Engineering Specialists on a wide variety of technical skills. The Apprentice Engineering Specialist will be supported and mentored, gaining training in and exposure of the tasks and responsibilities detailed, reflective of an Equipment Engineering Specialist.
About the role - you will:
• Participate in studies one day a week and earn while you learn.
• Complete HNC General Engineering (Level 4) over 2 years at North West Regional College.
• Complete NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Engineering (over 2 years).
• Learn new technical skills to increase knowledge and ability in equipment maintenance.
• Assist in the completion of preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment.
• Assist in fault-finding and repair of unscheduled downs.
• Comply with health and safety policy and procedures.
• Coached & mentored by a wide variety of highly skilled, diverse, and experienced people.
• Be part of a high-performing team.
About you:
Applicants must have:
o UK: 32 UCAS points at GCE A Level with at least one pass in a related discipline, plus pass in GCSE mathematics (or equivalent) OR a BTEC level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline.
o ROI: An Irish Leaving Certificate equivalent to 32 UCAS points (to include mathematics at C3).• Self-motivation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience or interest in Engineering/Maintenance with desire to work in Engineering in a world class industry.

This is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 4 days on-site working, 1 day at NWRC.
Having successfully completed the 3 year development programme, candidates will move into a full time Shift Equipment Engineering Specialist role. You will be working a rotating 12-hours shift pattern. This will include days and night working, (working days include: - 4 days on 4 days off, 2 days on 2 days off, 3 days on 3 days off, 2 days on 2 days off). The Rota will then repeat.
