Job summary
The Blood Sciences Reception, Pathology team at Cambridge University Hospitals Trust is looking for enthusiastic, adaptable individuals keen to join their large, dynamic department. This is a crucial position within pre-analytical services, processing specimen samples and data for laboratory analysis.
The role includes but is not limited to the reception, processing and storage of biological specimens, data entry and reports. In addition the post holder will have a positive, professional approach to patient care and be keen to work as part of a busy, highly skilled team. You will have good attention to detail and fast, accurate typing skills. Whilst recent experience is essential for this post, suitable applicants with other relevant experience may be considered.

Main duties of the job
o Performs a range of routine and non-routine healthcare science activities within the pre-analytical reception under supervision, e.g. data entry
o Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out.
o Demonstrate own duties to new or less experienced employees.
o To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
o The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
o Maintain and promote professional image of the CUH Trust.
