What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage daily functions related to coding, abstracting, and provider communication for telecommuting facility coding sections
- Ensure compliance with hospital regulations, government agencies, and Joint Commission standards
- Provide education and support to coding staff and other hospital personnel regarding coding processes
- Analyze work and staffing daily to meet operational goals and communicate updates to leadership
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external coding inquiries, providing expert knowledge in coding practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's Degree and 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within healthcare
- Experience in coordinating schedules, workflow management, and writing policies and procedures
- Ability to assess performance and manage health care-related vendor jobs
- Must possess or obtain one of the following certifications within 90 days: Certified Outpatient Coder, Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in a remote work environment
- Familiarity with ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, PCS, and CPT coding systems
- Strong problem-solving skills related to coding barriers
- Previous involvement in training or educating staff on coding practices
