The Prince William Area Agency on Aging is seeking a creative, problem solving, organized professional with a background in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the security of client personal health information (PHI) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to join our administrative team and stand up a new HIPAA compliant program for agency business.       About This Role:
      The person in this role will be responsible for working with senior management to develop policies and procedures for agency HIPAA compliance and will be responsible for researching and recommending technology for PHI compliance, benchmarking processes, and standing up a solution to ensure HIPAA compliance agency-wide. This person will handle various levels of complex administrative work and will be responsible to provide compliance-related training to all levels of staff. This person may also have the opportunity to assist the agency’s Supportive Services Team, connecting older adults to available resources, as a secondary role or through outreach events.

      Typical duties may include (but are not limited to:

      • Developing and Interpreting policies and procedures
      • Ensuring privacy policies of PHI are in place and enforced
      • Staff training and ongoing communication with stakeholders
      • Participation in the selection and maintenance of technology related to PHI compliance
      • Maintenance of client records and data in electronic databases
      • Travel to Agency site locations for meetings or staff engagement/training
      • Participation in outreach events in the community

      Minimum Requirements:
      High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of administrative experience with HIPAA compliance practices.

      Preferences: A successful candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in administrative work with a strong emphasis on HIPAA compliance and a bachelor’s degree. A successful candidate will also be experienced in researching, developing, and implementing technological systems, process improvements, and policies.

      Additional preferred skills and experience include:
      • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to demonstrate superior customer service
      • Superior communication skills, both orally and in writing
      • A positive attitude, the ability to accept feedback, flexibility, strong work ethic
      • Experience with HIPAA compliance related to the protection of PHI
      • Experience implementing a technological system or records management system
      • Experience performing risk assessments
      • Experience training staff on HIPAA compliance programs
      • Experience working with older adults, person(s) with disabilities, and/or caregivers and families.
      • Strong understanding of HIPAA-compliant billing systems

      Special Requirements:
      • Must pass criminal background check pursuant to VA Code Ann. 19-392-92 (2010) and the Older Americans Act of 1965 as amended in Section 701
      • Must pass DMV Record check
      • Must possess a valid driver's license
      • Mandated reporter of elder abuse
      • Must take a health physical and be cleared for employment
      • Certifications/Training required (or must be attained within twelve months) include: CPR/First Aid/AED, Uniform Assessment Instrument (UAI) Training; Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP); Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC); Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); or equivalent

      Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to adjust hours to ensure adequate staff coverage between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.

      Hiring Salary Range: $70,921.50 - $90,154.30 Annually
