Performs box locating, directional drilling, installation of conduits for various cables, installation of pedestals and concrete bases, flush mount vaults and enclosures
Safely operates directional drilling equipment and locating tools
Coordinate’s drilling activities with other activities, positioning or moving of loads and conduct in response to hand or audio signals from team members
Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, CVOR guidelines and always acting in a safe manner
Complete all required paperwork daily
Handle and distribute construction materials, loading and unloading vehicles with supplies, equipment, remove all debris from work sites
Must have previous directional drilling/locating experience (Vermeer series drills)
Previous experience with Falcon F2 & F5 locating systems
Previous experience in telecommunications is an asset
Ability to read locates and identify discrepancies in the field
Must have and maintain a valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license and a clean driver abstract
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Travel to various sites across Alberta is required
Working outdoors in various weather conditions
Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
Applicants that reside in the Calgary area will be given preference due to the location of this project
You are a Horizontal Directional Driller in the telecommunication industry and have experience supporting utility maintenance and construction. You will be responsible for operating drilling equipment to install underground telecommunication cable and conduits. As a Horizontal Directional Driller, you will collaborate with project managers, engineers and other team members to meet deadlines safety and maintaining industry standards and will ensue the precise and efficient placement of infrastructure
