      The Elizabeth Hospice Spiritual Counselor provides emotional, spiritual care, and counseling to patients, caregivers, and the bereaved. Duties include conducting spiritual assessments, developing care plans, and providing spiritual and grief counseling in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG).

      Annual Salary: $57,000-$78,000; based on experience and qualifications.

      Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

      On-Call: 2 shifts per month

      Weekend Commitment: 2 weekend days per month

      Work location may include Central and East San Diego County. Travel required for patient visits.

      The Elizabeth Hospice is San Diego's oldest non-profit hospice, serving for 45 years. We are growing and seeking talented individuals to join our high-performing team to support our mission of enhancing the quality of life for those nearing the end of life and their loved ones.

      Responsibilities include:

      1. Assessing spiritual needs of patients and families and providing timely services.
      2. Developing and implementing spiritual care plans.
      3. Providing direct spiritual and grief support.
      4. Coordinating with local clergy and support community members.
      5. Communicating effectively across cultures and ages.
      6. Supporting patients in crisis and at end-of-life.
      7. Participating in patient care conferences and IDG meetings.
      8. Assisting with end-of-life planning and decisions.
      9. Maintaining documentation using electronic charting.
      10. Community outreach and education about hospice services.
      11. Representing the hospice in the community.
      12. Leading memorial services and providing staff support.
      13. Participating in staff training and mentoring.
      14. Providing on-call and weekend coverage.
      15. Adapting to operational needs and performing other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Master of Divinity Degree (MDiv.) or equivalent, with four Clinical Pastoral Education units or equivalent clinical training and experience.
      • Experience in spiritual and pastoral counseling, including worship services/memorials preferred.
      • Excellent planning, organizing, facilitating, and communication skills.
      • Computer proficiency in MS Office, email, and scheduling software.
      • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
      • Hospice or home health experience preferred.
      • Current CPR certification and negative TB test.
      • Valid California driver's license and auto insurance.
