      • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
        • Provides direct patient care; makes spiritual assessments; prioritizes pastoral care needs, provides or makes provision for sacraments to address interfaith needs. Prepares for and oversees worship services, sensitive to the needs of the interfaith community. Utilizes community religious leaders and volunteers to meet the spiritual needs of patients, families and staff. Counsels, supports and provides educational opportunities for staff

      • Qualifications
        • Education
          • Required: Bachelor’s Degree of Divinity or equivalent or religious degree from a seminary; endorsement by a religious body as a chaplain; four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) within three (3) years of hire date
          • Preferred: Master’s Degree of Divinity or equivalent
        • Licensure/Certification
          • Required: Board Certified Chaplain through Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), or in process of becoming Board Certified and will attain certification within four (4) years of hire date
        • Experience
          • Required: Three (3) years of experience in spiritual care
      • Essential Responsibilities
        • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
        • Oversees and ensures daily delivery of spiritual care to patients, visitors, staff and volunteers of all faith traditions.
        • Anticipates both spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families and responds appropriately
        • Provides spiritual care and patient health services with an interdisciplinary approach. Documents visits and interventions appropriately, adhering to organizational standards.
        • Assists patients and families in ethical decision making
        • Responds promptly to requests for spiritual care visits and ritual sacramental needs.
        • Maintains an ongoing, caring relationship with staff and volunteer chaplain assistants.
        • Provides counseling when requested or required.
        • Coordinates “On-Call” responsibility with community clergy and volunteer chaplain assistants.
        • Conducts appropriate services as requested – marriage, memorial and general blessings.
        • Conducts training sessions for new and active members of the spiritual services team
        • Supports an interdisciplinary and interdenominational approach to spiritual care.
        • Maintains endorsement in good standing by his/her faith group.
        • Maintains accurate records of the spiritual services activities.
        • Reviews and approves all religious materials distributed in the medical center along with the director.
        • Oversees Chapel schedule for ecumenical worship services for all faiths.
        • Maintains a good relationship with local clergy and leaders of all denominations and faith based entities.
        • Assists local clergy in their hospital visitation.
        • Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminar, and workshop experiences.
        • Performs other duties as assigned.
