      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures according to ICD guidelines and UHDDS
      - Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services
      - Review and assess medical record documentation for accurate coding
      - Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists on documentation concerns
      - Assist in preparing responses to DRG validation requests from third-party payers

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum education: AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma, Health Information Management Degree, or related program
      - Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
      - Active certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
      - Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
      - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with electronic health record systems
      - Academic or level I or II trauma coding experience
      - AAPC certification as a Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
