What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures based on ICD Official Guidelines
- Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services
- Review medical record documentation and identify/report relevant indicators
- Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to address documentation concerns
- Assist in preparing responses to DRG validation requests and third-party payer inquiries

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Medical Coding Diploma or AHIMA approved Health Information Management Degree
- Three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
- Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), RHIT, or RHIA
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and surgical procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Academic or level I or II trauma experience
