      South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC), a subsidiary of BioBridge Global, is a not-for-profit community blood center specializing in a variety of services to include providing blood, plasma, platelets and other blood components to numerous hospitals in 43 South Texas counties. STBTC is a community partner focused on enhancing health care through innovation and stewardship.

      General Summary

      Responsible to perform order processing, customer communication and order delivery.

      Also responsible to courier products and supplies as is needed by STBTC and or BBG.

      Ensures all orders and deliveries are made and received in a timely manner.

      Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (internal or external, including donors for select positions) through multiple feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes.

      It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.

      Major Duties and Responsibilities

      Essential Tasks

      Receive orders from blood product customers and process in accordance with standard procedures and cGMP guidelines.

      Process returned products or non conformant products in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

      Review and prioritize any pending orders and deliveries.

      Make deliveries by driving to area hospitals and commercial carriers in a timely manner.

      Drive to pick up blood and blood components at hospitals, donor sites and blood drives.

      Consolidate as many shipments as possible to save repeated trips.

      Perform Irradiation Procedures.

      Recognize equipment malfunctions and technical problems; take appropriate steps in solving and notifying supervisory personnel as required.

      Report any potential problems to Supervisor, Manager, or Director immediately upon discovery.

      Assist with training new employees by demonstrating proper technique and adherence to policies and procedures, as directed by training specialist or management.

      Participate in continuing education by attending in service training, seminars, and other workshops.

      Assist in monitoring temperature and fire alarm systems.

      Assist in staff training and retraining as required.

      Ensure vehicle repair needs are reported and performed.

      Exercise initiative in seeking opportunity training to develop Shift Coordinator/Dispatcher competencies; will be expected to serve as alternate/interim Dispatcher once qualified.

      Performs other duties as assigned.

      Run departmental errands as directed.

      Education

      Requires a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.

      Licenses and/or Certifications

      Texas Operators Driver’s License

      Experience

      Requires one or more years of demonstrated proficiency as a Hospital Services delivery representative or in a position with a comparable responsibilities.

      Knowledge

      Must have a working knowledge of all operational aspects of hospital services.

      Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

      Must acquire a general knowledge of how blood products are collected, processed, stored and shipped.

      Must be or become familiar with the community and area serviced.

      Skills

      Must demonstrate positive leadership skills.

      Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions. Must have strong computer skills.

      Must have excellent telephone and/or email etiquette skills.

      Abilities

      Must be a self starter and self directed worker. Must be able to keep information confidential.

      Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

      Must be professional, organized, detail oriented, communicative, and have the ability to greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner.

      Must respond to stat orders without delay and work calmly in emergency situations.

      Working Environment

      Works in well lighted, air conditioned and heated vehicle or office environments, but may work in confined spaces and non climate controlled conditions. May be exposed to electrical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to an office environment. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a full serviced blood & tissue center. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. May have bodily exposure to refrigerator/freezer temperatures, especially hands and face. May be required to work at any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend. Ability to use personal motor vehicle for company business required. Occupational Exposure Assignment Category I
