      Description

We are proud of our Staff from our national office in New York City as well as home offices across the county, who collaborate with our more than 2,000 AFS-USA Volunteers to deliver high quality programs and global education resources. These include immersion-based study abroad experiences in over 40 countries worldwide; opportunities to host foreign AFS exchange students; and global learning workshops and curricula for educators, schools and businesses.

      The Hosting Onboarding Specialist reports to the Hosting Onboarding Manager and serves as a member of a regional staff team dedicated to the management and development of a geographic area comprised of multiple teams and chapters. The regional staff team will be responsible for maximizing external potential, increasing volunteer engagement, and expanding community impact through traditional and new programs. Th e Hosting Onboarding Seasonal will work in partnership with the Hosting Onboarding Manager, Regional Field Specialists and with volunteers to ensure the achievement of regional and national hosting goals as determined by the President of AFS-USA, and in full compliance with Department of State (DoS), CSIET, and AFS regulations and guidelines.

      The primary focus of the Hosting Onboarding Specialist is to serve as the entry point for interested host families to begin their AFS journey. They will ensure that all potential AFS host families receive enthusiastic and timely engagement as they begin their AFS journey.

      The Hosting Onboarding Specialist will also support regional efforts to generate new host family interest in targeted areas.

      Integral to success will be collaboration with other members of the regional staff and volunteer team on initiatives related to the Strategic Plan, including school outreach, volunteer recruitment, and community impact.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Ensure that all host family leads receive full, sufficient, and recorded follow-up and that additional leads are generated to meet specific needs and priorities as identified by the Regional Director(s), Regional Field Specialist(s), and other field leadership staff.
      • Ensure local volunteers and Regional Field Specialists are made aware of all leads and their status on a consistent basis, so that volunteers and Field Staff can work with the potential family and school to select an appropriate student.
      • Maintain strict adherence to all US Department of State, CSIET, and AFS regulations, standards, and guidelines
      • Incorporate IDEA standards into all facets of role.
      • Act as a supportive and collaborative member of a cross-functional regional staff team, including participation in regularly scheduled field staff meetings

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Experience in recruitment and/or sales
      • Strong interpersonal skills
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Ability to work collaboratively as the member of a virtual team
      • Superior technical skills
      • Previous experience working remotely, preferred
      • Open to flexible working hours, including nights and weekends

      WORK CONDITIONS:

      This a permanent part-time role in which the Hosting Onboarding Specialist is expected to work 19 hours a week in the evenings (from 6pm).

      SALARY & BENEFITS:

      The hourly pay for this role is 18.00. This role is not eligible for benefits.
