Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Hot Metal Crane Operator – Floater consists of, but is not limited to, movement of ladles, machine changes, moving stock and tundish moves by crane, operating all 3 hot metal cranes, work on the Casting Deck or other assigned areas during downturns and at other times when needed and a variety of other tasks related to the successful operation of the Melt Cast Department. Must work extended periods in an enclosed cab and able to work rotating shifts with scheduled and unscheduled overtime. This position is expected to cover leave of absences or vacant slot of 1 week or longer on any shift.TM selected for this position will be directly training to assume the next open hot metal crane job. TM selected for this position will also be expected to spend a minimum amount of time with the crane crew, in understanding the equipment they will operate, and building relationships. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
