Job Summary and Major Responsibilities:
Are you driven to make tangible impacts towards housing security for vulnerable Torontonians? Do you enjoy leading a program in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, and want to play an integral role in contributing to the City's HousingTO Action Plan aimed at upstream solutions to prevent homelessness? If this appeals to your interests, submit your application for the Housing Consultant position with the Eviction Prevention in the Community (EPIC) program
The EPIC program exemplifies the City's commitment to deliver preventative approaches to homelessness by assisting vulnerable households facing imminent risk of eviction to prevent loss of housing, avert homelessness and preserve affordable housing stock in Toronto.
Reporting to the Manager, and working as part of a collaborative management team, you will ensure people at imminent risk of eviction are effectively and efficiently connected with supports to sustain their housing. Through monitoring performance indicators, addressing barriers, and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple sectors, you will contribute to improving housing stability outcomes at an individual and system level.
As a key member of the EPIC senior management team, you will lead staff teams responsible for program eligibility, case management services, resource management, stakeholder engagement and community outreach. Responsibilities will include the oversight of daily operations, while working on process efficiencies, relationship development, service delivery improvement, capacity building and overall innovation within the Program.
In this role, you will develop and implement processes, policies, and systems for data collection that improve the results-based accountability of the Program and Housing Secretariat Division. You will monitor and review program outcomes on an ongoing basis and adapt and adjust operational priorities based on up-to date data on system-level impacts and emerging issues. This includes monitoring the contractual requirements of service providers to ensure compliance, financial accountability, and performance.
As a savvy communicator, you will develop key messages for media inquiries and prepare briefing notes, justification memos, and presentations for diverse audiences, from senior management, Councillors and the Mayor's Office to community stakeholders and members of the public. Your familiarity with budgeting and administration of agency or grants programs will be a major asset in this role.
Overall success for a Housing Consultant in the EPIC Program also involves a thorough understanding of a housing first principle, the knowledge of eviction processes in Ontario, the application of housing stability / sustainability concepts, strong stakeholder engagement methodology, and comprehension of the housing and homelessness prevention resources that exist in Toronto.
