      (some weekends as needed)

      PRIMARY DUTIES
      The condition of homelessness, as a social determinant of health, is a preventable public health issue. Over the past three years, the impact of COVID has exacerbated this condition for many in the community. The Housing Services Officer will be responsible for providing oversight to the City’s response to mitigate homelessness and the day-to-day operations of plans and activities necessary to promote temporary and permanent housing opportunities to end homelessness for individuals and families. This position will develop strategic plans in collaboration with leadership at the federal, state and local level using a systems approach with public and private partnerships to implement activities to achieve the goal of reducing homelessness through the development of policies, programs and securing of resources. The Housing Services Officer will work directly with City Directors and Department Heads and maintain effective working relationships with the Mayor, Board of Aldermen and the Board of Health. This position will employ the values of equity and inclusion while actively interfacing with property owners, building management companies, businesses, non-profit organizations, faith-based institutions and the private sector to identify and secure supportive, affordable and permanent housing for those in need.

      QUALIFICATIONS
      Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services; Public Administration; Public Health; Community Development or Planning. (Master Degree Preferred). A minimum of five (5) years of experience in relevant job or related work experience in housing, plus experience working directly with diverse populations representing diverse race, ethnic mental ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Knowledge of administrative practices and methods, including but not limited to human services program administration, planning and budgeting, mental and behavioral health systems as well as supportive, transitional and affordable housing strategies, state and federal housing regulations and funding sources, systems thinking and strategic planning processes, municipal, state government and social services Must possess a high level or emotional intelligence and self-awareness. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
