Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the incumbent is responsible for a combination of reception and administrative functions in support of the HR department and is the assistant to the Director, Human Resources. Duties include but are not limited to greeting visitors to the department in a professional, friendly manner; answering human resource/benefit/payroll enquiries or redirecting as appropriate; composing correspondence under general direction; providing support services for the department such as opening and distributing mail, maintaining files, ordering supplies, reconciling expense accounts, and maintaining photocopier/fax/printer machine; developing and updating department website; maintaining and disseminating hiring information to appropriate offices, and maintaining departmental organizational charts; authorizing tuition waivers; coordinating campus wide training sessions; conducting HRIS absence tracking training and technical support for campus departments; assisting with the processing of accident reports; and organizing HR department-sponsored events.
Qualifications Required:
Education:
Post-secondary education with course work in Human Resources administration or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of HRIS an asset. CHRP designation or in pursuit of a CHRP designation is an asset.
Experience:
Two to three years of related human resources administrative experience preferably in an educational institution; general knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures.
Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office, email and internet; excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills; accurate keyboarding skills; working knowledge of HRIS (Human Resource Information System) preferred.

Strong client service orientation; good judgement; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work independently but is also a strong team player; demonstrated initiative; maintain confidentiality; manage multiple priorities; and excellent interpersonal skills.
