      General Accountability

      Responsible for the performance-focused design and development of learning programs and training offerings for SGI and SGI CANADA, creating an optimal learner experience that drives employee performance and engagement. Leads and continuously improves a standard of practice for the design of learning that aligns to the business need and expected performance outcomes. Guides and delivers on the development of new learning programs, ensuring alignment to quality assurance standards and the incorporation of adult learning principles. Supports the evaluation of the impact that established learning programs have on business operations and performance measures.

      Key Accountabilities

      Learning Design and Development (50%)

      • Partners with business areas to lead the design of learning solutions that include targeted learning and performance support deliverables, utilizing innovative instructional design methodologies that focus on workflow learning.

      • Organizes and guides subject matter experts (SMEs), digital learning consultants and other supporting team members in the development of learning assets (performance support documents, practice activities, facilitator guides, demonstrations, digital learning, etc.), sharing expertise on adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.

      • Creates complex learning assets and customized facilitation guides that are designed to enable practical application learning and enrich the learner experience.

      • Consults with the business area’s Training Manager, Talent Development leaders and other stakeholders to understand the business need and desired performance outcomes that learning is expected to contribute to and ensures the learning design and learning assets are aligned to this.

      • Supports the execution of learning asset development within an agile approach, including the identification of Minimum Viable Product deliverables and participating in sprint ceremonies where applicable.

      • Leads the creation and continuous improvement of templates, models and other standards of practice governing the development of consistent, scalable, and repeatable learning asset development.

      • Supports trainers to understand and adopt best practices in the delivery of learning experiences aligned to the intention of the learning design.

      • Research industry best practices for the design and development of performance-focused learning experiences, identifying opportunities to continuously improve learning design and development governance and standards of practice.

      Learning Evaluation and Quality Assurance (30%)

      • Oversees the quality assurance reviews during the development of the learning program and its learning assets to conform to internally established and externally regulated standards (i.e., adherence to corporate visual standards, alignment to learning outcomes and accessibility standards, etc.)

      • Leads the formative evaluation of newly developed learning assets.

      • Observes the delivery of training and targeted learning, evaluates learning results, and makes recommendations for changes to enhance adoption and learning effectiveness.

      • Supports and/or leads summative evaluation on established training programs to assess the effectiveness of learning on business outcomes and performance measures, providing recommendations on program changes or redesign.

      • Leads the learning design process to support the redesign of an established training program, utilizing innovative instructional design methodologies that focus on workflow learning.

      • Informs and recommends opportunities to continuously improve program evaluation and quality assurance governance and standards of practice.

      Leadership (10%)

      • Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.

      • Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.

      • Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.

      • Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.

      Corporate Management (10%)

      • Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.

      • Manages risk in area of authority.

      • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.

      Education and Experience

      • Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business.

      • Certificate or diploma in instructional design.

      • Five years’ experience in instructional design and training program development.

      • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Knowledge of learning theories such as adult education practices and instructional design principles, including conducting needs assessments, designing, and developing training programs and materials, training delivery, and program evaluation.

      • Knowledge of agile project delivery frameworks.

      • Knowledge of project management practices, approaches, and techniques.

      • Knowledge of quality assurance standards.

      • Knowledge of HR functions and how they interconnect.

      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel) and Azure DevOps.

      • Ability to design performance focused learning that supports workflow learning.

      • Ability to develop learning program materials that support the effective facilitation of the learning experience and the adoption of learning into performance outcomes.

      • Ability to facilitate workflow analysis workshops and establish trust with others.

      • Ability to lead others through the execution of project deliverables and provide constructive feedback on the quality of work.

      Pay Range:$80,155.00 - $106,865.00
