      As an HR Generalist you’ll be handling all things HR, from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between. Some of the core responsibilities include assisting our managers in their hiring processes, employee relations, and performance management. Our goal is to have a team of HR superheroes!

      Performs highly complex human resources-related work for the Tyler District and NE Branch. Responsible for one or more human resources program(s). Work requires reviewing, preparing, and maintaining confidential information. Work requires contact with management, employees, retirees, health care providers; and state and federal agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

      Essential Duties:

      How you'll be contributing:

      • Participate in hiring program activities, including, but not limited to coordinating and managing job openings utilizing Taleo ATS and facilitating the hiring process.
      • Enter and maintain data such as applicant, salary, and benefits transactions using a Human Resources Information Management System (PeopleSoft).
      • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation, and assist with annual enrollment, employee forums or human resources-related meetings.
      • Represent the Department at job and benefits fairs.
      • Review and manage routine medical related employee needs, including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All non-routine cases will be referred to the lead or supervisor.
      • Respond to inquiries and complaints regarding human resources policies and procedures.
      • Consult and coordinate with Department management/staff regarding interpretation of rules, regulations, and laws to ensure program compliance with state and federal laws and regulations with guidance from Supervisor or Lead Worker.
      • Provide guidance to management on sensitive issues in areas, such as substance abuse and employee discipline.
      • Keep abreast of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
      • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Education: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

      Experience: 1 year human resources-related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

      Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      Certifications: HR related certificate such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR.

      Competencies:

      Knowledge of

      • Human resources management policies and practices.
      • Federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the human resources field.
      • Applicable human resources management and information systems.

      Skill in –

      • Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external.
      • Meeting deadlines.
      • Administrative support practices and procedures to include writing, editing and report writing techniques, recording meeting notes, record keeping and records management.
      • Prioritizing and organizing work assignments.
      • Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files and reports.
      • Using computers and applicable programs, applications, and systems.

      Ability to –

      • Communicate effectively to employees at all levels in the agency.

      Other Attributes –

      • Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals.

      Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

      • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools.
      • Sitting - prolonged periods of time.
      • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
      • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading.
