      Description

      The YMCA is looking to hire a full-time HR Generalist. This position will provide a broad range of human resources services in line with business objectives, strategic goals, and HR initiatives. Services provided may include recruitment and onboarding, compensation, benefits administration, training, payroll, some employee relations and special projects. Relies on experience, technical training, and independent judgment to perform specialized human resources work.

      Wage: $80,000 year

      Responsibilities/Duties:

      • Assist with providing some guidance to managers/supervisors on employee relations issues; assist with investigations and resolution of employee relations issues as required.
      • Respond to employee inquiries regarding company policies, procedures, and programs, exercising discretion and independent judgment as necessary to resolve any issues that may arise.
      • As needed, assist with formal and informal counseling of employees in support of supervisors. Witness and record employee responses to counseling.
      • Coordinate employment hiring while working closely with the recruiting team. Assist with job fairs/community events as needed.
      • Assist department supervisors and senior management in recruiting; ensure formal completion of updated job descriptions; may conduct reference checks and, upon request, coordinate offers to the most qualified candidates.
      • Build professional relationships and recommend, identify and participate in recruiting individuals who may be potential campaign leaders.
      • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
      • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulatory requirements, exercising independent judgment to do more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
      • Assist with Benefit Administration; ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and coordination with payroll department.
      • Assist with ACA Benefit Compliance and administration of COBRA Benefit Compliance.
      • Ensure the timely dissemination of appropriate and required employee related information to management staff and to corporate Human Resources on such subjects as educational opportunities, employee participation in educational programs, changes in company policies and procedures, etc., monthly reports and other reports as needed.
      • Participate in safety programs (office, facility and program) and ensure compliance with IIPP Program.
      • Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities, exercising independent judgment to do more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
      • Assist payroll with processing personal action forms, final checks and compliance reports as needed.
      • Monitor external human resources activities and trends.
      • Stay abreast of wage and hour laws. Communicate findings and ensure compliance.
      • Regular and reliable attendance.

      • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
      • Respond to UI, wage claims, and employment verifications, exercising independent judgment to do more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
      • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulatory requirements, exercising independent judgment to do more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
      • Assist with Benefit Administration; ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and coordination with payroll department.
      • Assist with ACA Benefit Compliance and administration of COBRA Benefit Compliance.
      • Coordinate and/or conduct management/field training in the areas of interviewing, performance management, performance appraisal process, safety, and harassment and discrimination.
      • Ensure the timely dissemination of appropriate and required employee related information to management staff and to corporate Human Resources on such subjects as educational opportunities, employee participation in educational programs, changes in company policies and procedures, etc., monthly reports and other reports as needed.

      Qualifications


      Minimum Qualifications:
      The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties & responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

      Education & Certification:

      • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration required or two to three years’ experience in Human Resources position may substitute for degree.
      • PHR or SPHR (Professional in Human Resources) certificate preferred.

      Experience & Background:

      • Not including the four years’ experience substitution for degree, 3-5 years of additional experience in Human Resources Management required.
      • Must have experience in the HR role as a Generalist or in the Employee Relations capacity.
      • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees.
      • Knowledge of multi-Human Resources discipline required.
      • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations based on best practices in line with Association policy.
