      UNDERWRITER – INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR920

      About this opportunity

      Our client is looking for an individual to fill their Underwriter, International Property Position.

      The primary purpose of the role is to underwrite an International (excluding North America) property focused reinsurance portfolio of business in accordance with the strategy and guidelines determined by the company. The Underwriter will be focused on the successful management of specific client portfolios and all relevant internal business processes requirements. As Underwriter, you will report to the Lead International Underwriter, Bermuda.

      Within this role your core responsibilities and duties include:

      • Quote, underwrite, manage and attract business on a client relationship basis for specific portfolio and product groups
      • Ensure risks are written within the agreed parameters-making sound long term decisions on risks that are written, with a focus on smart rationale underwriting
      • Peer review a broad cross section of risks, quotes and endorsements within an assigned portfolio
      • Assist in complete and management of quarterly underwriting exposure and RDS reporting
      • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant vendor models
      • Contribute to reserving processes through close collaboration with actuarial function
      • Liaise with and ensure compliance with underwriting management, taking corrective action as necessary
      • Provide management reporting on the region/product as required
      • Conduct role in accordance with the company's Business Ethics policy and all regulated entities as appropriate
      • Comply with relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements and with Group policies as directed by the Lead Underwriter

      What you’ll need

      • 3-5 years underwriting experience in property reinsurance
      • Possession of an industry related certification is required: preferably CPCU, ARe or ACII
      • Good knowledge and proven experience of handling new and renewal business within the Property line of business
      • Experience with portfolio management
      • Able to demonstrate achievement of client centric value propositions
      • Existing good working relationships with both clients and brokers; strong relationships with brokers and other distribution channels and an overall orientation towards providing exemplary client service are critical
      • Proven capability of developing new and existing broker and client relationships and run client meetings regularly without support
      • Competent in pricing risks within the area of authority
      • Good understanding of all relevant contract terms and conditions
      • Ability to work and effectively manage client relationships across lines of business
      • Good level of influencing and negotiating skills
