      What You’ll Do

      This position is located in the Office of Family Assistance (OFA). OFA oversees cash and food assistance programs, work support programs for recipients of cash and food assistance, refugee program services, and adult protective services. Learn more about the office by visiting ODJFS OFA webpage. The Human Services Program Consultant duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Handles inbound and outbound phone calls in a professional manner
      • Accurately responds to written inquiries in a professional manner via mail or email
      • Uses call tracking system, and other data bases, innerweb, and internet
      • Researches case information, policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations
      • Accurately interprets applicable state and federal laws and regulations
      • Works closely with colleagues to answer questions appropriately
      • Works both independently and as a member of a team
      • Maintains both a call and email tracker
      • Attends and participates in meetings and trainings
      • Operates personal computer to produce correspondence, reports, and other documents
      • Maintains logs, records, and files

      Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

      Travel: Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver license.

      The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

      OPTION 1:

      • Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science, health or pre-medicine or comparable field and 18 mos. exp. in delivery of human services, health care services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider.

      Or OPTION 2:

      • Completion of graduate core program in social or behavioral science or medicine-related or comparable field and 6 mos. exp. in delivery of human services, health care services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider.

      Or OPTION 3:

      • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

      Technical & Professional Skills Utilized: human services; enthusiasm; customer-service focused; ability to multitask; strong interpersonal skills; organized; ability to operate personal computer and call tracking system.

      Pay Information

      This position is in the State of Ohio’s SEIU/District 1199 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $28.92 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
