      This position is responsible for performing HVAC review and Inspection work for code compliance covering a full range of residential and commercial construction. You will also be trained to inspect all aspects of one- and two-family dwellings (carpentry, electrical, HVAC and related). The building inspector is responsible for analyzing detailed information, plan review, observation and documentation at various stages of construction, and reporting findings of investigations and inspections as they relate to building code compliance. Experience with all types of building systems, ICC building codes, applicable regulations, and understanding plans and specifications is preferred.

      • Examine plans and specifications for new construction, additions, and alterations for residential and commercial buildings to determine compliance with the provisions of applicable construction codes.
      • Conduct HVAC and other trade inspections of buildings and properties during construction, alteration, and repair to ensure conformance with adopted building codes and amendments.
      • Perform work with independent judgment and action within the framework of existing rules and regulations.
      • Attend and participate in meetings; and training as needed to stay apprised of new industry trends and innovations, including construction code changes.
      • Maintain licenses, certifications and obtain ICC HVAC certifications within a year of starting date.
      • A successful candidate must have 4-6 years of HVAC experience and/or International Code Council certifications as an HVAC inspector.
      • Applicants interested in this opportunity have a strong construction background.

      Education and other Requirements

      • Graduation from a high school supplemented by vocational and technical courses in the building trades; considerable experience in the building trades as a contractor, superintendent, foreman, or inspector; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
      • Certification or License: Applicants must have a valid driver’s license

      Physical Requirements

      • Required work will involve driving or sitting for extended periods of time, standing or walking, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis, and high dexterity in operating office equipment, including a keyboard, phone, etc.
      • The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision and the ability to hear and speak to understand, respond to, and build relationships with a diverse clientele.
