The team of trades, engineers, and professional staff effectively and efficiently operate, maintain, and renew the campus physical infrastructure. A Central Plant, with on site cogeneration system, produces electricity and essential utilities, and distributes them throughout the campus. These Utilities are critical in support of campus research, and teaching functions. Facilities Management informs campus leadership about risks, sustainability, and input into long-range development planning system capabilities.Your Role on the TeamUnder the direction of the Assistant Director, Utilities Operations, supervises and coordinates the work of the HVAC, Refrigeration, and Sheetmetal Technicians and Mechanics. The incumbent makes hiring selections, ensures proper training, assigns schedules, directs technician in the installation, repair, and programming of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. Performs all administrative duties necessary to manage departmental workload assignments, maintain appropriate record keeping of materials, and refrigerant usage, and submit timecards for accurate labor charges. Evaluate employee performance and determines standards for performance.What It Takes to be SuccessfulRequired:Solid knowledge and skills in the specialty craft supervised.Solid supervisory skills to include organization, scheduling, assigning work and ensuring quality standards are met.Solid financial skills to accurately project costs of potential jobs and to consistently complete work within established budgetary and time constraints.Skills to actively promote and maintain safety standards.Solid skills to effectively select and evaluate staff, and to appropriately handle disciplinary issues.Technical trade school in HVAC/Refrigeration or equivalentEPA 608 Universal Refrigeration LicenseA minimum of 10 years of experience in the HVAC/RefrigerationPreferred:1-3 years in a supervisory role.Total CompensationIn addition to the salary range listed below, we offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
