      Pre-Employment Testing Requirement

      This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. Please read the job description in its entirety for additional information on accessing the assessment. The assessment should be completed by Sunday, August 27, 2023.

      Job Objective

      • To perform and lead diagnostics and repairs on Plant Instrument and Electrical systems
      • This position is to also provide leadership to other I&E Technician within the group

      Duties & Responsibilities

      • Perform skilled I&E Technician duties involving, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing Plant instrumentation, controls and electrical systems
      • Perform basic calibration on various forms of instrumentation, i.e., pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, temperature instruments, and control valves
      • Perform basic checks and repairs on Plants electrical equipments, i.e., motors, motor starters, circuit breakers, relays, UPS systems, Vfd’s, BMS systems and meters
      • Perform basic checks and be able to, with vendor support, troubleshoot and calibrate Plant process analyzers
      • Perform diagnostic on Plant PLC based control systems. Perform basic programming changes and repairs
      • Be familiar with HMI software and perform minor changes and repairs as needed
      • Be familiar with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and be able to perform program changes within the system
      • Preferably DeltaV
      • Insure that all Instrumentation and Electrical Plant Maintenance work is performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Plant’s PSM/Safety procedures
      • Work with Plant Safety Representative and PSM Coordinator on Plant PSM/Safety procedures. Including Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazardous Analysis (PHA) issues as they pertain to Plant Maintenance issues
      • Work with Plant’s Maintenance Mechanics on equipment repairs
      • Manage I&E maintenance work within the Plant to insure that the work is preformed in accordance with the Safe/Hot Work Permits and all Safety and Environmental Regulations
      • Work with various I&E instruments, testers, meters, tools and equipment

      Additional Requirements

      • Direct Report to the Plant Foreman
      • Must report all Plant Maintenance issues to the Plant Foreman
      • Will be required to perform maintenance duties in all of the Plants within the District
      • Insure that Plant Operators are kept aware of any and all maintenance work and maintenance issues within the Plant
      • Must be very familiar with Plant’s overall processes
      • Will be required to attend and successfully complete Maintenance and Plant Operation training classes and stay current on Plant Equipment and Maintenance Procedures
      • Will be required to work overtime. Will be required to work holidays if they fall during normal work schedule
      • Must attend and be active in all Plant PSM/Safety meetings
      • Must have the ability to work alone and perform Plant Maintenance work
      • Must have a valid and current State of Texas Driving License.
      • Will be required to drive a Company vehicle and must have a driving record that meets Company approval
      • Must be dependable and punctual in attendance
      • Must have positive demeanor and ability to work with others under sometime hectic and stressful conditions

      Experience and Training Requirements

      • 4 years of experience is desired but not required
      • Previous training and experience with PLC software and HMI software
      • Previous training and experience with Distributed Control Systems
      • Previous experience in troubleshooting electrical systems
      • Experience with Plant process instrumentation
      • Note: These are Guidelines and may be adjusted at the desecration of the Plant Superintendent and Plant Foreman
      • PM execution in a highly procedural compliance driven regulated environment

      Physical Demands and Working Conditions

      • Environment: Both Indoors and Outdoors. Possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and gases
      • In performing outside duties, may be exposed to extreme heat or cold climate conditions
      • Must be able to work around High Voltage Electrical Equipment
      • Mobility: the employee is regularly required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; handle large items
      • Use fine motor control; stand stationary and stand/move about
      • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
      • The employee must be able to climb and work at heights of 80 ft
      • Must be able to pass a fit test, to meet SCBA requirements
      • Vision: Visual acuity to perform I&E Technician duties
      • Other Factors: Will be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
      • Will be required to drive a Company supplied vehicle to different Plants within the District
      • Must have a clear and Company approved driving record

      Pre-Employment Testing Guidance

      This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you. Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.

      IMPORTANT

      The O&M test has been revised. Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment. Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), if you tested before December 1, 2021, you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity. Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position. The assessment is the same for all O&M requisitions. If you have completed the assessment after December 1, 2021, your assessment results will be mapped to this requisition when you try to access the test. Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview. Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
