      Responsibilities

      The Instrumentation & Electrical (E&I) Technician at Eastman’s Pace, FL manufacturing site is responsible for the maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner and with a high level of proficiency. The schedule is Mon-Thurs, 6:00am to 4:30pm. The person in this position must be able to respond to call-outs and have flexibility to work overtime.
      This position is not eligible for relocation.

      Responsibilities

      • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing chemical plant instrumentation and equipment including low and high voltages, valves, transmitters, controllers, and distributed control systems (DCS)
      • Investigation of equipment failures to include determining root causes, and recommending and implementing appropriate solutions to eliminate or reduce failures
      • Assisting in the review, development, and implementation of site preventative maintenance programs
      • Participation in the planning and execution of chemical plant turnarounds

      Qualifications

      Experience

      • 5+ years’ experience in an industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environment
      • Solid background in control and instrumentation, including valves, transmitters, controllers and DCS systems
      • Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and digital process control systems, related loop equipment, electric motors, high voltage equipment, as well as control circuitry
      • Familiarity with methods of level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement, as well as knowledge relating to pneumatic and electronic instrumentation
      • Have practical knowledge relating to electrical distribution, motors and motor control, conduit and wiring practices, lighting, and grounding as well as familiarity with the National Electrical Code (particularly for hazardous locations)
      • Process analyzer experience helpful but not required

      Education

      Associates degree or technical degree/certification required from an accredited educational institution in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology, or a degree related to the core responsibilities of this position.

      Competencies

      • Must embrace a Zero Incident Mindset
      • Must be able to read blueprints, specification sheets, loop diagrams, and P&IDs
      • Prior experience with SAP a plus
      • Must have computer experience including competency with Microsoft Office
      • Good math, science, and problem-solving skills
      • Must demonstrate initiative and ownership
      • Must be able to respond to call-outs, be on a rotating call-out schedule, and have flexibility to work overtime

      Physical Requirements

      • Ability to work outside year-round in Florida weather extremes
      • Be comfortable working at heights of up to 100 ft. and in confined spaces
      • Ability to do substantial bending, lifting, reaching, crouching, and climbing ladders and stairs
      • Must pass a physical, drug test, and wear a respirator
