      The following Sessional Lecturer position for the Fall 2023 academic session is currently available.       Salary:

      Sessional Lecturer I = $9,457. 90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

      Sessional Lecturer 1 Long Term = $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)


      Sessional Lecturer II = $10,121.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)


      Sessional Lecturer III = $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

      Duties:

      All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculations and submission of grades, holding regular office hours, and supervision of teaching assistants assigned to course, if applicable. Candidate must travel to UTM to perform duties.

      CT380H5F Human-Computer Interaction and Communication

      The emphasis in this course will be on theoretical, methodological, and empirical issues in the study of Human-Computer Interaction. Intelligent interface designs, usability assessment, user modeling and the accessibility of the technology for the disabled are among the topics to be examined. Related behavioral investigations concerning the ease and efficiency of users' interactions with computerized environments will also be discussed.

      September – December 2023 (actual work may extend into January 2024)

      PRA0102 Tuesdays 9am-12noon (day/time subject to change)

      Estimate Enrolment: 40

      Estimate of TA support: 65 hours

      Qualifications:

      Advanced scholarly understanding of, and demonstrated professional industry expertise with:

      • HCI from a Human Factors perspective.
      • Quantitative and qualitative cognitive engineering methods.
      • Applications of HCI in the systems design and evaluation of platforms aiding visual, auditory, tactile and vestibular sensory interactions.
      • Theoretical foundations of Interface and Interaction Design for safety-critical platforms such as medical systems and aviation contexts.
      • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards in the design of digital systems for augmented vigilance, enhanced performance, reduced cognitive workload and human error.
