Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking an IEP Writer for the 2025-2026 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. Our academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with a wealth of opportunity, including a 1:1 initiative and the YouMedia Center, which is a digital learning lab offering students activities such as 3-D printing, graphic design, and videography. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Services IEP Writer assists the Student Services Department with planning, organizing and writing
students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) as well as accompanying required forms, attends IEP meetings and
serves on IEP or ETR teams as the required District Representative. The Student Services IEP Writer is to assist
in ensuring that a child with an identified disability who is attending an elementary or secondary educational
institution receives the appropriate specialized instruction and related services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Works in collaboration with teachers and district personnel to plan and write IEP’s that build on student
strengths, address educational needs and include standards-based goals
? Designs and writes plans in alignment with the Springfield City School District’s (SCSD) professional
development, best practices and resources
? Provides IEP teams with draft IEPs 2 weeks prior to a meeting
? Elicits parent input for IEPs or evaluations
? Contact parents and team members to schedule IEP meetings
? Completes, documents and disseminates parent notices through SameGoal
? Disseminates and collects forms needed for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to classroom teachers and
related service providers
? Maintains caseload database of student IEP and evaluation dates
? Monitors IEP and evaluation due dates, numbers of student suspensions, dates to implement transition
plans and transfers of rights, and completion of all required paperwork
? Provides copies of IEP to parents at the meeting and a PWN to within 3 days of meetings using SameGoal
? Performs all assigned duties according to the policies, rules, and regulations of the Springfield City
Schools Board of Education and the Ohio Department of Education/Special Education Division and
complies with all Federal mandates as they apply to students with disabilities
? Attends, participates in and facilitates IEP meetings
? Performs other duties as assigned
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Maintains a professional demeanor; exemplifying responsible leadership
? Maintains the confidentiality of student records
? Engages in collaborative planning with colleagues; supporting building and District level programs
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor’s Degree
? Must hold a current Intervention Specialist license
? Desire for part-time work
? Knowledge and proficiency in electronic document management (SameGoal) and student information
systems
? Knowledge of differentiated instruction, child development principles, and a wide range of instructional
and intervention strategies
? Sound grasp of Ohio Learning Standards and Office of Exceptional Children Operating Standards
? Effective time management skills
REQUIRED ABILITIES:
? Ability to collect, organize and disseminate data
? Ability to organize and manage time effectively
? Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially with regard to student information
? Ability to communicate and engage with students, families and staff
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
? Work typically performed in a meeting setting, including virtual or phone conferences
? Assignments may require adherence to strict guidelines and timelines
? Potential for interactions with aggressive, disruptive and/or unruly individuals
? Potential for exposure to extreme temperatures
? Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases
What We Offer:
Training is provided by the Springfield City School District at no cost to you.
Wage is $35.00 per hour.
Hours and days vary up to 28 hours per week and are assigned by Family Outreach Connections Coordinator
