- Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and portable CMM or FARO.
- Machine parts to specifications using 5 and 3 axis machines.
- Set up, adjust, or operate specialized machine tools for precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines per setup documentation.
- Measure, examine, or test completed parts to ensure conformance to customer specifications using precision instruments.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, or engineering information to determine product conformance.
- Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
- Diagnose machine tool malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Confirm technical information with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel.
- Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to make or repair customer products.
- Dispose of scrap or waste material according to company policies and environmental regulations.
- Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes for improved efficiency per Kaizen process.

Job Description
We are seeking skilled 5 Axis CNC Machinists/Operators to join our team on the 2nd or 3rd shifts. This role involves setting up and operating a variety of 5 and 3 axis machines and tools to produce precision parts. The candidate will be responsible for reading and understanding precision instruments to verify product conformance.

Work Environment
The position is based in a machine shop handling subassemblies for aerospace, SpaceX, and military projects. The 2nd shift operates Monday-Thursday from 4:15pm to 2:45am, while the 3rd shift operates Friday-Sunday from 4am to 4:30pm. Employees receive training for 6-8 weeks before transitioning to their assigned shifts. If working all three full days on the 3rd shift, employees receive an extra 4 hours as comp time.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
