      Job Description

      We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist with over two years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate must be proficient with straight needles and should feel comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills are essential for this role. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.

      Responsibilities

      • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and carry out decontamination processes.
      • Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
      • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures, such as urine or fecal samples, when required.
      • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
      • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
      • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
      • Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against the script.
      • Package specimens for transport and store sample specimens at the required temperature.
      • Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow specific procedures necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.

      Work Environment

      The position is based at a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Brooklyn, NY, where you will see 30-50 patients daily.

      • The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 1:30 pm, and every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, totaling 31.5-32 hours weekly.This is a part-time position.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
