      Public Media Group of Southern California (KCET and PBS SoCal) tell stories that matter through original programs that reflect the diversity of the region, and the full schedule of trusted PBS programs. Our content channels –KCET and PBS SoCal– are available for free on internet-connected screens and seven local broadcast channels.

      A donor-supported community institution, PMGSC sparks the sharing of ideas at in-person cultural events and community conversations and delivers social impact through services that prepare our most vulnerable children for school.

      Job Overview

      The Impact and Partnerships Intern will support the community-focused efforts of PMGSC. The position will support the Impact and Partnerships team in the creation and execution of unique engagement experiences. The team aims for its work to elevate the voices of the community and help share public media content in thoughtful ways. In addition to assisting with current activities, an intern will support the strategy & growth of the department, contributing to partner research and management, as well as bringing their ideas to the development of future projects. The ideal candidate would have a curiosity about the history and culture of Southern California. Candidates should also have a passion for media, storytelling, and enjoy working with a diverse range of community members.

      Primary Duties/Responsibilities


      • Outreach to community partners to support the adoption of the Events Resource Library
      • Create key deliverables in support of the promotion, structure, and strategy around PMGSC’s intern cohort program
      • Help coordinate logistics related to Impact projects as assigned (e.g., management of event details, promotion, partner communication)
      • Support the creation, curation, and distribution of resources for impact initiatives
      • Assist with the maintenance of a diverse portfolio of existing community partners
      • Support research and strategy development around PMGSC’s Creative Career Pathways work
      • Conduct additional research as necessary, such as identifying community-based organizations, cultural institutions, and schools as potential partners
      • Contribute to the planning of future impact projects, with an eye towards grassroots and community-centered initiatives
      • Participate in intern cohort activities and additional station events as appropriate
      • Represent PMGSC at community and professional events to promote PMGSC brands
      • Perform other duties as assigned

      Minimum Qualifications


      • At least 18 years of age
      • Available to work 20 hours per week with occasional nights/weekends event support
      • Be curious, creative, and interested in community-based work
      • Be a self-starter able to work independently while working collaboratively with colleagues
      • Be able to work with multiple internal departments and external contacts in a professional and timely manner
      • Have excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written)
      • Be an innovative thinker and problem-solver
      • Have excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
      • Dependable transportation access to travel to outreach events and in-person meetings

      Physical Demands

      While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

      Work Environment

      The working conditions are primarily a telecommuting setting. However, the position will require occasional meetings in our Burbank office. Depending on the position, job duties, and subject to the discretion of the company, the position may be telecommuting eligible in whole or part.
