Job Overview

Pharmaron (San Diego) is seeking to hire an outstanding candidate to join our Medical Device department at the Research Associate II level. The Research Associate will support in vivo studies to test medical devices. This position requires knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry to develop and support in vivo models for screening therapeutics and devices.

Position Details

• Title: In Vivo Research Associate II
• FLSA status: Non-Exempt
• Pay Rate: $28 - $32/hr
• Location: Carlsbad, CA

Responsibilities

• Administer test substances via various methods (oral gavage, SQ, IV, dermal, etc.)
• Manage and observe animals' health and wellbeing
• Collect biological specimens (e.g., blood from lab animals)
• Perform activities in compliance with GLPs, study protocols, SOPs
• Review documentation for quality control
• Handle, restrain, and care for laboratory animals
• Prepare studies, including labeling and setup
• Perform catheter placements, surgeries, anesthesia, and post-operative monitoring
• Conduct biopsies, necropsies, and tissue collection
• Interface with study teams and maintain accurate records
• Support research projects and perform aseptic techniques
• Perform other duties as directed

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
• Associate's degree in veterinary technology with 3+ years relevant experience, or BS with 2+ years
• Veterinary technician certification (RVT) is a plus
• Background in in vivo lab animal research is required
• Knowledge of preclinical techniques is a plus
• Good communication skills, work ethic, adaptability
