- Work with both internal stakeholders and external clients to educate them on the index products, any structural and tactical changes, and the associated implications for the relevant markets resulting from these changes.
- Work across all stages of Index product development process from conceptualization of idea to putting it into production, through leveraging partnerships across technology, operations and other stakeholders.
- Work comfortably with large datasets and ability to dissect, process and analyze data and analytics at the component and aggregate level.
- Participate in team publishing and reporting initiatives including BAU market summaries and thematic publications. Draft and update index rules where needed to ensure dissemination of accurate information.
- Manage Index oversight function through engagement with the Calculation Agent teams for daily monitoring of our indices & ensure product integrity is maintained.
- Put together research and analysis on index products to assist clients and teams globally.
- Strong work ethic, ability to think locally & execute globally with high social awareness.
- A background in quantitative research within an index or portfolio construction environment is desirable.
- Understanding of fixed income concepts, bond math, financial products, analytics, and an awareness of market events.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain complex or unfamiliar concepts in simple terms.
- Any hands-on experience with programming and database packages would be a plus.

The individual is expected to achieve a firm grasp of index products and function as the primary point of contact in the time zone. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.

J.P.Morgan’s Global ResearchCenter (GRC) in Mumbai was set up in August,2003 as an extension of the Firm’s Global Equity Research teams around the world. Besides working with JP Morgan’s Equity Research teams, the analysts and associates in GRC are now engaged with other areas of public side research including Credit Research, Economics, Strategy, Credit Derivatives and Fixed Income Bond indices.
The Global Index Research Group is responsible for the ideation and management of its market leading Fixed Income indices across Developed, Emerging and Frontier markets. The group has expanded its reach to cover other asset classes and investing strategies, including ESG, Securitized and Commodities, to name a few. The team works with large institutional asset managers and hedge funds, central banks, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.
Ideal candidates for this position would be Engineering graduates who have an interest in benchmarks, portfolio construction and risk management. An experience of 1-2 years in the financial services in a similar role and aspirations to build a career in the financial markets is desirable.
