Job Description

- Communicate throughout the day with drivers on the progression of route and communicate that information with sales.
- Use system routing software to effectively route all customer orders daily.
- Provide daily supervision of assigned drivers and monitors to ensure proper and consistent performance of duties.
- Assist with ongoing orientation, training and evaluation for drivers within the department.
- Review driver logs and paperwork to ensure accuracy and adherence to policy and DOT regulations.
- Complete Department of Transportation (DOT) logs (electronic or manual as required), company vehicle maintenance reports and reconcile with appropriate company representative as required.
- Transmit messages and ensure accurate receipt and understanding.
- Receive calls from drivers, transmit messages, and make inquiries to obtain requested information or services.
- Log information relating to schedule of drivers and customers.
- File data and perform other routine clerical tasks required by regulations.
- Monitor alarms and notify proper agencies when necessary.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Manage computer dispatch systems and maintain customer relationships in the dispatch and supervision of drivers on loads.
- Ensure driver compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
- Complete daily reporting of dispatch activity.
- Facilitate all over the road breakdowns, accidents, weather delays and any route exceptions.
- Participate in driver evaluation and ride along with drivers quarterly
- Work Schedule Sunday – Saturday.
- Have a valid Class C driver license.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Require occasional mobility, standing and walking.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are requested over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, phone and similar machines.
- Frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72” to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart; constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer.
- Availability in work schedule of Sunday –Saturday.
- Have a minimum of a valid Class C driver license.
- Ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral instructions in the English language.
- Remain calm and effective under heavy work load and emergency situations.
- Speak with a clear, well-modulated voice.
- Must be able to manage stress effectively.
- Ability to write legibly and demonstrate knowledge of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
