- Associate Degree from an accredited college or University. Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
- Cybersecurity training or certification are preferred.
- Any Industrial Controls Certifications are preferred.
- Electrician and Mechanical experience or certifications are preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of certification, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position.
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist certification preferred.
- Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
- Have General Knowledge of the installation and troubleshooting of Access Control, Security Cameras, Badging Systems, ect.
- Performs installation, maintenance, repair, and calibration tasks on treatment plant and remote facility electronic, electrical, mechanical systems, instrumentation, switch gear, VFD, pressure, magnetic flow, and radar level, both electric and pneumatic actuators and positioners, communications equipment, controllers, PLC/DCS and HMI, and other instrumentation.
- Installs, tests, monitors, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots equipment, including running conduit and pulling new wire.
- Uses organized and logical troubleshooting techniques to identify and locate problems.
- Installs, maintains, repairs, and calibrates various detectors, alarms, analyzers, and sensors for flow, level, pressure, and other process elements such as temperature, pH, and chemical residual. Repairs and/or replaces instrumentation equipment as needed. Revises and updates associated documentation.
- Assists in monitoring process control systems using diagnostic software. Updates software and data based on operational and maintenance needs. Maintains and updates panels, PLCs, and related input and output equipment.
- Performs Inspection and Maintenance (I & M) checks on all control systems.
- Lead efforts to develop and implement changes as a result of analytical testing. – Sr. Technician Only
- Provides input to engineering consultants and contractors regarding design and construction of organization improvements.
- Assists in the preparation of labor and materials estimates, reviews bids, and assists in overseeing contracted services.
- Experience with AutoCAD. Create/update schematics and CAD drawings as needed. – Sr. Technician Only

- Coordinates the electrical and control portions of designing and implementing modifications and improvements to existing equipment and facilities with the electrical consulting engineer. Designs and completes minor electrical construction projects. – Sr. Technician Only
- Develops, performs, and maintains a thorough calibration/maintenance schedule of process/system instrumentation, and maintains calibration and maintenance records within computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Enters and maintains records of installed equipment, problems encountered, work performed, and parts and materials used within CMMS. Maintains inventory of parts, spares, and accessories.
- Develops electrical preventative maintenance procedures to ensure effective and efficient operation of the water and wastewater systems. – Sr. Technician Only
- Monitors electrical consumption and recommends electrical cost-efficient methods of equipment operation. – Sr. Technician Only
- Assists in training the operations and maintenance staff in proper use and care of electrical and electronic equipment, programmable controllers, related software, and associated safety concerns. – Sr. Technician Only
- Remains alert and communicative to conditions and events occurring at the Water Treatment Facility indicating anticipated or needed repairs and makes related recommendations.
- Takes all proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Required to wear protective safety gear and use safety equipment. Reports all near-misses, accidents, and damage to city property.
- Responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies, participating in professional trainings and development, and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.
- Conducts job duties with a continuing awareness of the environmental implications of decisions and a focus on providing municipal services in a sustainable and responsible manner.
- Work with control network infrastructure design (network architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, and components) and their relation to IEC 62443 and the Purdue Model.
- Prepare for and perform IT and/or ICS incident responses as required.
- Understand various industrial control systems (ICS) and their purpose, application, function, and dependencies on network IP and industrial communications to effectively maintain, manage, operate, and secure the operational environment.
- Configure and download radio programs, assemble, and installs radio equipment, read, understand, and perform modifications to existing radio profiles to maintain compatibility and consistency in radio networks.
- May provide on-call services.
- Performs related and required duties to meet the needs of Denver Water.

This position offers a hybrid schedule working a minimum of two days in the office at the Denver Water Administration Building, 1600 W. 12th Avenue Denver, CO 80204

These individuals will work under direct supervision to maintain, calibrate, and repair network and industrial control systems, which includes various instrumentation devices, water quality analyzer equipment, network communications equipment and uninterruptible power supplies. They will also assist in the design, assembly, testing and commissioning of industrial control panels and related systems. The level of the position will be determined by the selected candidate's experience.
