- Lead the development, evaluation, implementation, and improvement of best business practices as they relate to material flow from the warehouse to the production floor.
- Responsible for design and implementation of warehouse layouts; Responsible for implementing and maintaining PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and will work with Procurement and Suppliers on optimizing packaging in support of material handling processes on the production floor.
- Analysis of future program material flow from dock to point of use.
- Analyzes and evaluates current and proposed material handling processes for efficiency, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
- Evaluate various types of equipment and processes and make recommendations based on the application to Echo's products.
- Is able to identify areas of constraint within the material handling process and works towards the resolution of these problems.
- Obtains competitive quotes on equipment and piece parts.
- Creates spreadsheets or comparable documentation for evaluation and makes recommendations based on findings.
- Take a leadership role to design, facilitate the building of, and implement automation concepts into ECHO’s material handling process.
- Be responsible to provide all operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and spare parts manuals for all new automation equipment brought into ECHO.
- Work cross-functionally with IT, operations, and management teams to identify opportunities and design solutions.
- Works well with subordinates and peers.
- Assists in the development of less senior personnel.
- Responsible for the completion of work assignments on a prearranged schedule.
- Works with minimum work direction and supervision.
- Establishes standards & documentation for various assembly and process operations.
- Responsible for training employees on new and existing processes and equipment.
- Employees must be able to effectively communicate with other employees.
- Employees must be well organized, detail oriented and able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solves shop problems and assignments of a miscellaneous nature as required; for example, troubleshooting processing equipment functions, performing time study processing rates, and resolving safety, space utilization, and material handling issues.
- Four years of experience in the job offered or in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Special skills - Experience in pneumatics and hydraulics; process development, material flow optimization and warehouse layout; and Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Material handling and warehouse equipment and storage techniques.
- Bachelor’s or foreign degree equivalent in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or related field and four years of experience in the job offered or in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering in a manufacturing environment.

ECHO is hiring an Industrial Engineer. This position is located on-site at our Lake Zurich, IL facility.
The Industrial Engineer holds a key role in the development and optimization of processes, equipment, and labor standards within the material handling department, encompassing both the warehouse and assembly areas. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Services, this position involves responsibilities ranging from designing warehouse layouts to implementing efficient material flow practices.
