- You will participate in the planning, organizing, implementation and control of a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene program with very little supervision.
- You will oversee the Naval Research Laboratory Authorized Use List for Chemicals Program.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that the safety oversight requirement of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command is effectively implemented throughout NRL and its field sites.
- You will serve as a technical expert in IH for NRL conducting comprehensive IH surveys and special studies.
- You will plan, conduct, or direct special studies regarding occupational health problems that require the development or modification of air sampling equipment or protective devices.
- You will draft technical bulletins, instructions, and procedures for guidance of NRL personnel, requiring research into various technical publications.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
This position has a Selective Placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement factor is: This position requires knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of industrial hygiene.
In addition to the selective placement factor and basic requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05/10) grade level or pay band (NO-02) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: Knowledge of Department of the Navy and Federal occupational health standards; Knowledge of chemicals, their hazards and toxicities, and methods used to reduce the hazards associated with their use, storage, and disposal; Experience managing Navy Safety and Occupational Health Programs; Ability to work with a diverse population of civilian, Active Duty, and contractors; Understand the requirements of Chemical Hygiene Notebooks, Authorized Use Lists, and Biological Safety Levels; Knowledge of large safety data management and statistics; Technical writing skills and experience to communicate to both leadership and line workers; Familiar with a wide variety of safety and occupational health requirements and third party references; and Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
